Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) are basic self-care tasks that people do every day to live independently. These include:
- Bathing
- Dressing
- Eating
- Toileting
- Mobility (moving around)
- Personal hygiene
ADLs are often used to determine a person’s need for support services, especially in Medicaid waiver programs. If someone has difficulty with two or more ADLs, they may qualify for help through home care or long-term services.
